Dr. Lucia Palazzo

PhD Student in Electrical and Information Engineering

Lucia Palazzo received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree (cum laude) in Medical Systems Engineering from Polytechnic University of Bari, in 2021 and 2023, respectively. For her master thesis she developed a Deep Learning-based framework for Human Activity Recognition, aimed at classifying Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) using inertial sensor data. The work was supervised by Prof. Vitoantonio Bevilacqua, Eng. Vladimiro Suglia, Prof. Giovanni D’Addio, and Eng. Gaetano Pagano from the ICS Maugeri IRCCS Bari.
From November 2023, she has worked at the IRCCS Maugeri of Bari contributing to research projects “Elderly patients with acute heart failure and/or acute coronary syndrome: effectiveness of an EHealth-based secondary prevention and rehabilitation program and role of molecular biomarkers in prognostic stratification” and “Smart Ambient Assisted Living Ubiquitous System”.
Since November 2024, she is a Ph.D. Student in Electrical and Information Engineering at the Industrial Informatics Laboratory, DEI, Polytechnic University of Bari. Her research is focused on movement analysis as well as the development of support and assistance systems for frail individuals.
